The State Vocational University named after prof. Edward F. Szczepanik in Suwałki was founded in 2005. In 2011, prof. Edward Franciszek Szczepanik became the patron of the university. Currently, there are four faculties at the university: the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Health Care, the Polytechnic Faculty and the Faculty of Humanities and Economics. PUZ offers 21 fields of study. The oldest of them is finance and accounting, while the newest are food analysis and human nutrition and administration. The university has 1,371 students, of whom 65.8% are women and 1.8% are foreigners. Last year, 343 graduates graduated from the university. In the academic year 2024/2025, 685 male and female students began their studies, including 12 foreigners. The university employs 103 full-time academic teachers, of whom 54.4% are women.
