The State Academy of Applied Sciences in Nysa was founded in 2001 as the State Higher Vocational School in Nysa, based on the idea of ​​prof. dr hab. inż. Ryszard Knosala, then advisor to the Opole Voivode. The university refers to the tradition of the old Jesuit grammar school, which was founded in Nysa in the 17th century by the bishop ordinary of Wrocław and the prince of Nysa, Charles Habsburg. The future king of Poland, Michał Korybut Wiśniowiecki, studied at this grammar school. The university offers education at the following faculties: Faculty of Jazz, Faculty of Economic Sciences, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences and Physical Culture, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Technical Sciences, Faculty of Modern Languages. Currently, the university has 1,818 students, of whom 61.4% are women and 3% are foreigners. Last year, 493 graduates graduated from the university. In the academic year 2024/2025, 809 male and female students began their studies, including 18 foreigners. The university employs 124 full-time academic teachers, of whom 44.4% are women.
