Academy of Applied Sciences in Nowy Sącz — the university began operating on July 1, 1998, based on the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of June 16, 1998, on the establishment of the State Higher Vocational School in Nowy Sącz. At that time, three institutes were established: the Institute of Economics, the Institute of Foreign Languages ​​(based on the Teachers' Language College) and the Pedagogical Institute (based on the Teachers' College). In the academic year 1998/1999, 458 students began their studies in 8 specializations. Currently, the university offers education in 6 faculties: the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Physical Culture and Safety Sciences, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Arts, the Faculty of Engineering Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Currently, the university has over 2.9 thousand students, of whom 60.8% are women and 0.8% are foreigners. Last year, there were 850 graduates. In the academic year 2024/2025, 1,013 male and female students began their studies, including 9 foreigners. The university employs 195 academic teachers, of whom 55.4% are women.
