The Jan Amos Comenius Academy of Applied Sciences in Leszno, until September 2022 operating under the name of the State Higher Vocational School, was established on July 1, 1999. Initially, the university offered first-cycle studies. Since 2016, it has also offered second-cycle studies. It was the first university in Poland to introduce an innovative dual studies model – known as the "Leszno dual studies model" since 2011. The establishment of the university had a significant impact on the development of the city of Leszno. The university currently has 1,179 students, of whom 54.5% are women and 2.4% are foreigners. Last academic year, 308 graduates graduated from the university. In the academic year 2024/2025, 593 male and female students began their studies, including 10 foreigners. The university employs 91 full-time academic teachers, 45.1% of whom are women.
