The State Academy of Applied Sciences in Chełm was established on the basis of the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 24 July 2001 on the establishment of the State Higher Vocational School in Chełm. The aim of the university is to provide education tailored to the needs of the labor market, which is why it undertakes activities aimed at cooperation with local industry and active search for investors who would like to build production plants in the Bug River region. The educational offer of the university includes both humanities and technical fields, with aviation specializations being a particular pride. Currently, over 1.9 thousand students study at the university, of which 46.1% are women and 8.9% are foreigners. Last academic year, 442 graduates left the university building. For the academic year 2024/2025, 889 male and female students started their studies, including 95 foreigners. The employment structure at the university includes 128 academic teachers, of which 52.3% are women.
