Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Sciences in Poznań is a state university with a medical profile, founded in 1950 in Poznań as a result of the transformation of the Faculty of Medicine with the Department of Dentistry and the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Poznań. Since 1984, it has been named after Karol Marcinkowski. The university is the founding body for four clinical hospitals: the Heliodor Święcicki Clinical Hospital, the Gynaecological and Obstetrics Clinical Hospital, the Wiktor Dega Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Clinical Hospital and the Karol Jonscher Clinical Hospital. Students study at four faculties: the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine. Currently, the university has over 7.2 thousand students, of whom 73.8% are women and 8.6% are foreigners. Last year, the university produced over 1.6 thousand graduates. In the academic year 2024/2025, almost 2 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 159 foreigners. The university employs 1,029 full-time academic teachers, of whom 63.5% are women.
