Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw, founded in 1929 as the Central Institute of Physical Education, is one of the leading universities in the field of sports and physical education in Poland. In 1938 it was transformed into a military academic school, and since 1935 it has been named after Józef Piłsudski. Currently, the university offers studies in three faculties and eight fields of study, covering such fields as physical education, sports, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, tourism and recreation, cosmetology and personal trainer. The university also has a branch in Biała Podlaska. The university educates over 4 thousand students, of whom 42.4% are women and 2.5% are foreigners. In the academic year 2023/2024, 966 graduates left the university, while 1,870 students, including 43 foreigners, started their studies in the academic year 2024/2025. The employment structure includes 284 academic teachers, of whom over half (50.7%) are women. Among the outstanding graduates of the university are: Andrzej Strejlau - football coach and activist, Janusz Kusociński - Olympic gold medalist in athletics, Janusz Wójcik - football coach, Paweł Nastula - judoka, and Włodzimierz Szaranowicz - sports journalist. The university plays an important role in educating specialists in the field of sports and rehabilitation, promoting sports and scientific achievements.
