Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa is a renowned public university with almost 50 years of tradition. Its history dates back to 1971, when the Council of Ministers established the Higher Teacher Training School in Częstochowa. In 1974, the institution was transformed into the Higher Pedagogical School in Częstochowa.

Currently, the University is one of the most important academic centers in the region, offering over 60 first- and second-cycle degree programs in fields such as humanities, medical and health sciences, engineering and technology, pedagogy, social sciences, law, exact sciences, natural sciences and art.

The university also runs a Doctoral School, within which it educates in 13 disciplines, including chemistry, philosophy, physics, history, linguistics, literary studies, pedagogy, musical and plastic arts, art conservation, as well as legal sciences, health sciences, safety and physical culture. There are nearly 35 forms of postgraduate studies available for candidates and students, as well as numerous courses and trainings.

Currently, the university has over 6,000 students, of whom 70.7% are women and 4.9% are foreigners. Last academic year, the university produced 1,395 graduates. In the academic year 2024/2025, 3,118 male and female students began their studies, including 150 foreigners.

The university employs 459 academic teachers, of whom 54.2% are women. The university's graduates include Jakub Błaszczykowski - a football player and national representative, and Marcin Najman - an MMA fighter, boxer and kickboxer.
