The oldest and most prestigious economic university in Poland - the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) - traces its history back to 1906. The university offers an education tailored to the requirements of the labor market, providing studies under the guidance of distinguished scholars and specialists in various fields related to economics. As part of the international environment, students also have a large dose of practice, working with companies and public institutions. A distinctive feature of SGH is the ability to freely create one's own path of study, which is made possible by the university's departmentless structure. As a result, each student decides for themselves not only the course of study, but also the choice of subjects and lecturers. They can also freely direct their interests to classes in other majors. There are currently more than 9,500 students at SGH, 48.4% of whom are women and 9.9% are foreigners. Last year, the university produced more than 3,000 graduates. In the 2024/2025 academic year, more than 4.5 thousand male and female students, including 455 foreigners, began their studies. The university's structure employs 752 full-time academic staff, 50.3% of whom are women. Prominent graduates of the university include: Leszek Balcerowicz - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Minister of Finance, President of the National Bank of Poland; Henryka Bochniarz - Minister of Industry and Trade in Jan Krzysztof Bielecki's government; Marek Borowski - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance in Waldemar Pawlak's government; Andrzej Witold Halicki - Minister of Administration and Digitization in Ewa Kopacz's government; Grzegorz Witold Kolodko - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance; Zygmunt Marian Broniarek - columnist, journalist; Ewa Klobukowska - sprinter and economist.
