In 1951, an independent university, the Higher School of Agriculture, was separated from the University and Technical University of Wroclaw, which functioned as the Agricultural University from 1972, and from November 23, 2006 as the Wroclaw University of Life Sciences. It is one of the largest universities in Wroclaw. Currently, the university offers studies in 30 fields of study of the first (bachelor's or engineering) and second degree (supplementary master's), as well as in uniform master's studies, conducted within six faculties. The university is authorized to conduct third-level studies (UPWr Doctoral School) and postgraduate studies. The university currently educates nearly 6,500 students, 66 percent of whom are women, and 5.8 percent. - foreigners. Last academic year, more than 1.6 thousand graduates succeeded from the university. In the 2024/2025 academic year, more than 2.1 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 94 foreigners. The university's structure employs 676 full-time academic staff, of which nearly 56.5 percent are women. Wroclaw University of Life Sciences graduated, among others, Hanna Gucwinska - an animal technician.
