The Ignacy Lukasiewicz Rzeszow University of Technology is the oldest and largest technical university in southeastern Poland. It was established on October 1, 1974, although its origins date back to 1951, when the Evening School of Engineering was established. In its anniversary year of 2016, celebrating its 65th anniversary, it was granted the status of a technical university. The university educates at seven faculties: Faculty of Construction, Environmental Engineering and Architecture; Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics; Faculty of Chemistry; Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; Faculty of Mathematics and Applied Physics; Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Technology; and Faculty of Management. Since 1976, Rzeszow University of Technology has been the only university in the country to provide training for civil aviation pilots. Student training takes place at the Aviation Training Center in Jasionka, in accordance with a program approved by the Civil Aviation Authority that meets European requirements. There are currently 11,200 students at the university, 37.3% of whom are women, and 1.4% are foreigners. Last academic year, the university educated 3,096 graduates. In the 2024/2025 academic year, 4,073 male and female students began their studies, including 64 foreigners. The university's structure employs 805 academic teachers, 35.3% of whom are women.
