The decree establishing the Lodz University of Technology was signed on May 24, 1945. At the beginning of its operation, the university had four faculties: Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical and the Textile Department. In the first year, 525 students were enrolled, while 458 students continued their studies in subsequent years. At the time, there were 33 departments with 33 professors, 15 assistant professors and 53 assistants. At present, Lodz University of Technology educates at 9 faculties, offering 65 majors and about 120 specialties. The university also offers doctoral studies, numerous postgraduate programs, including MBA-type programs, and specialized courses. No other university in Poland has such a long experience in education in foreign languages or such a diverse educational offer. Since 1993, the Center for International Education (IFE) has been implementing study programs conducted entirely foreigners and French. Students also have the opportunity to earn dual diplomas by working with partner universities in countries such as France, Turkey, Denmark, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. There are more than 10,000 students at the Technical University of Lodz, of whom 36.1% are women and 5.1% are foreigners. Last year, the university educated more than 2.4 thousand graduates. In the 2024/2025 academic year, nearly 3.6 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 216 foreigners. The university's employment structure includes 1,085 full-time academic staff, 40.4% of whom are women.
