The Stanislaw Staszic Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow, founded in 1919, is one of the largest and oldest technical universities in Poland. AGH offers a wide range of majors and specializations, often unique on a national scale. Among them are both the traditional fields of mineral exploration, mining and processing, as well as modern technologies, which dominate the university's offerings. Studying at AGH is multidegree and allows students to shape the curriculum individually. The university consists of 17 faculties, a research center - the Academic Center for Materials and Nanotechnology - and teaching centers. It is one of 10 Polish universities with the status of a research university. AGH has concluded more than 280 cooperation agreements with universities around the world, cooperating with more than 60 countries. Most agreements have been signed with universities from Ukraine, France, China and the United States. The university currently has nearly 18,800 students, 31.7% of whom are women, and 2.4% are foreigners. Last academic year, nearly 5,000 graduates left the university building. In the 2024/2025 academic year, more than 6.3 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 165 foreigners. The employment structure at AGH includes 2,083 full-time academic staff, of which more than 31% are women.
