Czestochowa University of Technology was founded in 1949 as an Engineering School with a single Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. In 1955, the university was transformed into Częstochowa University of Technology. It currently educates at six faculties: Faculty of Construction, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Infrastructure and Environment, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, Faculty of Production Engineering and Materials Technology and Faculty of Management. The university also offers studies foreigners and education on a multimedia e-learning platform. There are more than 60 scientific circles at Częstochowa University of Technology, in which students have the opportunity to develop and deepen their interests. There are currently more than 5,500 students at the university, of whom 30.2% are women and 12.8% are foreigners. Last year, nearly 1.4 thousand graduates left the university. In the 2024/2025 academic year, nearly 2.5 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 290 foreigners. The university structure employs 592 full-time academic staff, of which more than 45.1% are women. The scientific achievements and inventions of employees of the Częstochowa University of Technology have won recognition at international innovation exhibitions held in various countries. Among the graduates of the Częstochowa University of Technology are: Danuta Nowicka - politician, union activist and metallurgical engineer, deputy to the Sejm of the eighth and ninth terms; Adam Małysz - ski jumper and rally driver; Piotr Woźniak - politician, economist, academic teacher and local government official, senator of the 11th term; and Paweł Szataniak - manager and entrepreneur.
