Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin is the largest public university on the eastern side of the Vistula River in Poland. It was established in 1944 and has been dynamically developing its educational offer since then. Currently, the university provides education at 12 faculties in Lublin, offering almost 90 fields of study and about 300 specializations. Every year, it introduces new educational paths, responding to the needs of the labor market and the development of science. There are 120 scientific groups and university-wide organizations at UMCS, which helps to activate students and develop their passions. The university also educates doctoral students within three Doctoral Schools: Humanities, Social Sciences, and Exact and Natural Sciences. It currently conducts research in 24 scientific disciplines, which are subject to evaluation. The educational offer also includes postgraduate studies, most of which are carried out in cooperation with partners from the socio-economic sector. The university currently has almost 16.4 thousand students. students, of whom 66.7% are women, and 10.4% are foreigners from various countries, such as Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. Last year, over 4.2 thousand graduates left the university. In the academic year 2024/2025, over 7.8 thousand male and female students started their studies, including 866 foreigners. The teaching staff employs 1,426 academic teachers, of whom 54.8% are women. Among the outstanding graduates of UMCS are, among others, Wanda Brzyska - chemist, Urszula - rock singer, Hieronim Wrona - journalist and TV and radio presenter, Anna Moskwa - civil servant and economist, as well as Dorota Gardias - TV presenter.
