Powiślańska Szkoła Wyższa in Kwidzyn began its operations in 1999 as a non-public university. Its founder is the Society for Economic and Ecological Education in Gdańsk. The university has branches in Gdańsk, Toruń, Kwidzyn and Kościerzyna. The university has its own Medical Simulation Centre, which is used for practical training of future paramedics, nurses, cosmetologists, dieticians and economists. Currently, the university has over 2,000 students, of whom 72.6% are women and 25.4% are foreigners from various countries of the world, mainly from Zimbabwe, Turkey and the Middle East. Last academic year, the university graduated 555 graduates. In the academic year 2024/2025, 913 male and female students began their studies, including 168 foreigners. The teaching staff employs 76 full-time teachers academic staff, of which 81.6% are women.
