The university was established in 2001 under the name of the Higher School of Regional Economy Management, and then its name was changed to the Higher School of Economics, Tourism and Social Sciences. It offers various forms of education, including 3-year first-cycle studies (bachelor's degree), 3.5-year engineering studies, 2-year second-cycle studies (master's degree), 5-year uniform master's studies and postgraduate studies, courses and training. All levels of studies are offered in the full-time (day) and part-time (extramural) systems. The university has four domestic branches located in Kielce, Myślenice, Bochnia and Tarnobrzeg, and three foreign branches in Lutsk and Lviv in Ukraine and in Dublin in Ireland. Currently, the university educates over 2.1 thousand students, of whom 59.5% are women and 27.1% are foreigners. Last year, 563 graduated from the university. In the academic year 2024/2025, 886 male and female students began their studies, including 237 foreigners. The academic staff includes 47 academic teachers, of whom 51.1% are women.
