The Higher School of Education and Therapy (WSEiT) was founded as the first private higher education institution in Poznań, specializing in educating physiotherapists. The aim of its founders, prof. dr hab. n. med. Kazimiera Milanowska and mgr Violetta Musa, was to create a medical institution.

The founder of the university is the company Galilea sp. z o.o. In 1995, Galilea established the Vocational Education Center "Promocja", which organized vocational courses with a medical and humanistic profile. Then it established the Wielkopolska Medical School - a private post-secondary school offering education in fields such as pharmacy technician, massage technician, occupational therapy, physiotherapy technician, dental technician and dental assistant.

Currently, the university has over 2.2 thousand students, of whom 64.6% are women and 1.1% are foreigners. Last year, 344 graduates graduated from the university. In the academic year 2024/2025, 878 students began their studies, including 6 foreigners.

The university employs 27 full-time academic teachers, of whom 59.3% are women.
