The Academy is one of the oldest non-public universities operating in Poland. It was established in 1992 under the name Wyższa Szkoła Ubezpieczeń i Bankowości. AFiB Vistula in Warsaw and its affiliate, the A. Gieysztor Academy in Pultusk, offer a total of 17 bachelor's, master's and engineering degree programs, as well as postgraduate and doctoral studies. All majors in Warsaw are also available foreigners, in full-time, part-time and online modes. The university cooperates with more than 40 foreign institutions, carrying out exchanges of lecturers and students, joint programs and projects, research, exchange of experience and publications. The university currently has more than 12,000 students, 44.7% of whom are women, and 54.2% are foreigners. Last academic year, more than 2,200 graduates left the university. In the 2024/2025 academic year, nearly 4 thousand students, including 1,968 foreigners, began their studies. The university structure employs 136 full-time academic staff, 46.3% of whom are women.
