The university was initiated by the authorities of the city of Ruda Śląska, implementing the Resolution of 1997 regarding the Strategy of Internal and Integrated Development of the City of Ruda Śląska until 2015. This document defined the directions of the city's development and provided for the establishment of a higher education institution in Ruda Śląska. The educational offer of the university, in accordance with the adopted mission, has focused on education in specializations such as company management and finance and accounting since 2001. Since 2004, it has been expanded to include management and marketing, while maintaining the original specializations. Since 2007, the university has expanded its offer to include medical and social studies, aimed at improving the quality of life in society and supporting the professional and social activity of the elderly and disabled. Currently, 546 students study at the university, of which 91% are women and 3.7% are foreigners. Last year, 234 graduates graduated from it. In the academic year 2024/2025, 187 male and female students began their studies, including 11 foreigners. The university's employment structure includes 8 full-time academic teachers, 100% of whom are women.
