The Silesian Academy, formerly known as the Higher School of Technology in Katowice, was founded in 2003 by Arkadiusz Hołda. It is the first non-public university in Silesia offering technical and artistic studies at the Faculty of Architecture, Construction and Applied Arts. The university offers courses in architecture, construction, mechatronics, computer science, graphics, interior design and design. In 2018, the Faculty of Medical Sciences named after Prof. Zbigniew Religa was established, where you can obtain education in the fields of Nursing, Emergency Medical Services and Medicine. Additionally, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities offers a course in Management. Currently, the university has almost 3.5 thousand students, of whom 66.7% are women and 6.5% are foreigners. Last year, 451 students left the university building. For the academic year 2024/2025, 1,518 male and female students began their studies. The Silesian Academy employs 300 full-time academic teachers, of whom 50.7% are women.
