The Higher School of Management and Administration in Opole was founded on the initiative of Marian Duczmal. In December 1995, he headed a five-person team consisting of Tadeusz Pokusa, Witold Potwora and Józef Kaczmarek. It was they who submitted an application to the Ministry of National Education to establish the first non-public higher education institution in the Opole province. At the same time, they took steps to prepare the appropriate infrastructure for the new institution. The decision of the Ministry was made on June 10, 1996. In the first stage, the Faculty of Economics was established, offering studies in management. In the following years, as the university developed, the Faculty of Pedagogy was established, and in 1999 - the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology, which in 2010 was renamed the Faculty of Political Science, Sociology and Administration. Currently, the university educates students in ten basic fields of study, both full-time and part-time. For several years, the Academy of Applied Sciences WSZiA in Opole has been an interdisciplinary university, with a dominance of economic and social fields. Its structures include four faculties.
