The university was entered into the register of non-public universities and associations of non-public universities of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education on 28 February 2002 under the number 233. WSZOP is a pioneering university in the country, which began educating occupational health and safety engineers according to its own program, taking into account the requirements of the European Union regulations in force at that time. The university is associated with research centers both in the country and abroad, conducting scientific research and various forms of education in areas related to occupational safety. Currently, WSZOP offers studies in three colleges: technical sciences, social sciences and philology. These colleges offer bachelor's, engineer's, master's and postgraduate studies, as well as specialist education. The university educates almost 1.3 thousand students, of whom 56.1% are women and 6% are foreigners. Last academic year, 345 students graduated from the university. In the academic year 2024/2025, 503 male and female students began their studies, including 21 foreigners. The university employs 24 full-time academic teachers, of whom 25% are women.
