University of Warsaw is the best
The University of Warsaw won the Perspektywy University Ranking 2025, ahead of the Jagiellonian University and the Warsaw University of Technology. Kozminski University is the best non-public university, and the Powiślański University is the best higher vocational school. This is the 26th edition of this ranking, which is the most up-to-date "photograph" of Polish higher education.
- Our Ranking is addressed mainly to high school graduates - says Waldemar Siwiński, Ranking Manager, creator of Polish educational rankings. - It is a kind of "compass" that is to help them choose the best direction for their further education. But the academic community is also waiting for the results of the Ranking. Thanks to its cyclicality, methodological consistency and ability to evolve, the Perspektywy University Ranking has become a "mirror" in which Polish academic universities and higher vocational schools "look at themselves" every year. It is a hint of what is going well and is a reason for pride, and what should perhaps be changed or improved.
A novelty of this year's Ranking is the combination of the previous rankings of non-public universities and state academies of applied sciences (formerly state higher vocational schools PWSZ) and the creation of a consolidated Higher Vocational Schools Ranking 2025, common to all universities educating at the master's level (not having the status of an academic university). As stated during the meeting of the Ranking Board, after 35 years of the existence of non-public universities in Poland and 27 years since the emergence of state higher vocational schools (PWSZ), it is high time to evaluate universities not depending on their ownership status, but on quality.The preparation of the Perspektywy University Ranking and the Ranking by Subject, covering the 75 most popular fields, is supervised by the Ranking Board chaired by prof. Michał Kleiber, former president of the Polish Academy of Sciences, consisting of representatives of the academic community (Polish Accreditation Committee, Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland), institutions supporting innovation (The Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, The National Information Processing Institute) and the labor market (Polish Bank Association), to which university graduates end up. This builds the credibility of the Ranking and the universal recognition of its results. In accordance with the decision of the Ranking Board, universities whose ranking indicator did not differ by more than 0.5 percentage points are classified ex aequo.
The Perspektywy University Ranking currently consists of three complementary rankings:
- Academic University Ranking covering all (except art) universities in the country with at least the right to award doctoral degree;
- Ranking by Subject, this year covering 75 main fields or groups of fields of study at academic universities.
- Higher Vocational Schools Ranking covering public and non-public higher schools educating at the master's level, which is being published this year for the first time (in previous years, separate rankings of public and non-public universities were published in this group).
This year, 75 fields of study were assessed in the Ranking by Subject. For the first time, the AI&Data Science field of study was assessed, and the Warsaw University of Technology won.
Among the universities offering the largest number of the best studies in Poland, the Jagiellonian University in Kraków is in first place, offering 18 of the best fields of study. It is followed by the University of Warsaw (16 fields of study) and the Warsaw University of Technology (11), the AGH University of Krakow (8) and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (6).
