The State Higher Vocational School in Kalisz was established on July 15, 1999. In 2020, it was the only state higher vocational school in Poland that had the right to award a doctoral degree in two disciplines. In connection with this, the university applied to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for transformation into an academy. In 2023, under the act, the Kalisz Academy was transformed into the University of Kalisz. The Kalisz Academy is a university educating students in full-time, part-time and postgraduate modes, including Executive Master of Business Administration studies. Studies are conducted at four faculties: health sciences, social sciences, polytechnic and medical-social-technical in Września. The university offers education in 21 fields of first-cycle studies, 12 fields of second-cycle studies and 11 fields of postgraduate studies. It has the authority to award doctoral degrees in the fields of medical, health, social, safety, management and quality sciences. Currently, the university has over 3.1 thousand students, of whom 55.9 percent are women and 3.3 percent are foreigners. Last academic year, 736 graduates left the university building. In the academic year 2024/2025, 1,419 male and female students began their studies, including 45 foreigners. The university employs 254 full-time academic teachers, of whom 43.7 percent are women.
